Membership Engagement & Outreach Committee

Who We Are

The Membership Engagement & Outreach (ME&O) Committee offers something for everyone, from potential members, to newbies, to members who have been here for years. The ME&O Committee connects members to the committees, campaigns, and/or people within the chapter who match their passion or interests.

What we Do

You’ll often find ME&O members doing outreach at events like the KCEATS! Solidarity Drive or the Save the Civil Service rally; hanging out at fellowship events like Coffee with Comrades or Socialist Trivia Nights; or facilitating New Member Orientations and Rose Buddy 1:1s, where new members can meet active members and learn about what it means to be a member.

All events are open to the public unless otherwise indicated (usually with a “Members Only” tag on the calendar). We look forward to meeting you at an event sometime soon!

Subcommittees

The Childcare Subcommittee is dedicated to making chapter-hosted events more inclusive environments for parents, guardians, and caregivers who wish to attend our events.

If you are a people-person or enjoy knowing that you’re making a tangible difference in others’ lives, the Childcare Subcommittee might be a perfect fit for you! After attending our Childwatch training, you can volunteer to provide childcare at a variety of chapter-hosted events, allowing our comrades with kids to fully engage in the democratic process, without worrying where their kids are or what they’re up to.

The Public Activism Subcommittee is all about being the face of KC DSA in the community, through tabling and other public outreach events. Nationally, DSA is set to reach 100,000 members in 2026. In 2025 alone, KC DSA doubled to 525 members – that doesn’t happen overnight. It takes a regular community presence to make those numbers rise.

If you like talking to strangers (or want to build your people-skills), being out in the community, and encouraging people to learn more about DSA, then make sure you join this subcommittee!
