Governance

The DSA is a member-run organization. The Steering Committee is the chapter’s leadership body, which performs the necessary administrative duties for the chapter. Each position within the Steering Committee is elected yearly by the chapter membership.

The DSA operates on a democratic model for both national- and chapter-level decisions. Proposals are put forth by groups or individuals within the relevant body, which then the group as a whole votes on. While the DSA is open to engaging with non-dues-paying members, voting is limited to dues-paying members only.

Our chapter has different committees that oversee the work that the chapter is doing. Each committee has a steward that serves as the leader of the committee. These stewards serve on the Steering Committee and are also elected on a yearly basis like the other positions. To see an overview of the committees that we have, click here!
